Call to Order/Roll Call
Mayor Wellner called the meeting to order at 5:00 PM. Members present were: Karla Klapatauskas representing Little League Baseball, Shari Bergman representing the Swim Klub, Melanie Church representing Youth Wrestling, Kim Wojcik representing Youth Football, Jenna Strebig representing Youth Hockey, Jeff Long representig youth Soccer, Erica Clarkson representing Medford Library, Bryce Kelley representing Youth Basketball, James Stokes and Alli Ranum representing Huey’s Hideaway, Bob Fitzgerald, Michael Wellner, Peggy Kraschnewski, Bill Dallas, representing the Recreation Commission.
Citizen(s) and/or Delegations
There were no citizens or delegations present.
Approval of Minutes
Krashnewski moved, Dallas seconded a motion to approve the March 28, 2018 meeting minutes as presented and to place the same on file with the Clerk’s Office. All in favor: All Aye. Motion Carried.
Election of Officers
Mayor Wellner opened the floor for Chair, Vice-Chair and Secretary of the Recreation Commission nominations. Krashnewski moved, Dallas seconded a motion to nominate Michael Wellner for Chair, Bill Dallas as Vice-Chair, and Peggy Krashnewski as Secretary of the Recreation Commission and to close the nomination and to cast an unanimous vote for Michael Wellner as Chair, Bill Dallas for Vice-Chair, and Peggy Krashnewski for the Secretary of the Recreation Commission. All in favor. All Ayed. Motion Carried.
Annual Reports from 2018
The Recreation Commission reviewed the Annual Reports from 2018. Discussion was held.
Dallas moved, Kraschnewski seconded a motion to approve the 2018 Annual Reports as presented. All in favor: All Aye. Motion Carried.
Request for 2019 Funds
The Recreation Commission reviewed the list of applicants requesting funds and listen to each requesting group presentation.
After discussion it was decided of the Recreation Commission to have all applicants leave while reviewing the 2019 applications. Hueys Hideaway was denied because it didn’t fall under the Recreation Commission’s Bylaws.
Kraschnewski moved, Dallas seconded a motion to recommend that Council approve the 2019 Recreation Fund Requests as follows:
Medford Basketball Booster Club $2,000.00
Youth Hockey $2,000.00
Medford Youth Wrestling $1,500.00
Medford Swim Klub $1,700.00
Medford Youth Soccer $2,200.00
Medford Library Summer Programs $2,690.00
Medford Little League $3,800.00
Medford Youth Football $2,500.00
Medford Booster Soccer $2,000.00
All in favor: All Aye, Motion Carried.
Dallas moved, Fitzgerald seconded a motion to recommend to Council to transfer $2,390 from the Recreation Fund Non-lapsing account to the 2019 budget. All in favor. All Aye. Motion Carried.
Recreation Budget Increase
The Commission suggested an increase in the 2020 Recreation budget. No Action Taken.
Scheduled Next Meeting
The Recreation Commission Secretary will schedule the next meeting as needed.
Dallas moved, Mayor Wellner seconded a motion to adjourn the meeting at 5:29 PM. All in favor. All Aye. Motion Carried. Meeting adjourned
